Starting Wednesday, the speakers are being sold exclusively at BestBuy--and at discounted prices. Like the Blue Label laptops, the new five-model Klipsch Icon V Series was manufactured and priced according to feedback Klipsch received from Best Buy employees and customers.
The new lineup consists of two floorstanders, plus a bookshelf, center channel, and surround models. All share the same patent-pending technology to reportedly deliver rich, full-bodied sound performances from cabinets that are a lot slimmer than traditional speakers.
They also use other sound-enhancing features, including aluminum tweeters for improved tonal balance; fiber-composite lightweight woofer cones for high output dynamics and deep bass; and high-definition, precision-voiced crossovers for tighter tolerance and higher accuracy.
The new speakers are made of sleek black medium-density fiberboard with furniture-grade wood veneer top or side caps, depending on the model.
Though priced at lower premium than others, these new Klipsch speakers are still quite an investment, costing $950 for a pair of VF-36 floorstanders; $750 for a pair of VF-35 floorstanders; $300 for a pair of VB-15 bookshelf speakers; $280 for each VC-25 center channel; and $330 for a pair of VS-14 surrounds.

5 Stars A runners best friend!
As a runner, I need lightweight headphones that dont jump/move/jar around. I hate ear buds (hate them!) as they are seemingly designed for people w/LARGE ear holes! These things are tiny, fit nicely IN your ear and provide great sound without annoying you on a long run! The price is fabulous too! Last time I ordered, I bought 4 pairs (whenever I like something it seems to be discontinued) and I just broke into pair #2 this week (after almost a year w/the others). Ive run in these for 3 half marathons and countless training runs, inside and out. If I wouldnt wad them up and throw them in my gym bag, theyd probably last even longer, but eventually one side tends to give out.

Hello one and all and welcome once again to another edition of The Scottish Beat. I apologize for not updating on Sunday night as advertised in my last post. As you will eventually read, extenuating circumstances prevented my updating until Wednesday of this week. It's been a week since my last update, so I certainly have a lot of typing to do in a short period of time, so I had better get down to business.

Well, last Thursday was pretty decent. We got to sit in on discussions at the main debating chamber of the Scottish Parliament. It was truly astonishing to see. Not many MSPs were there first thing in the morning, but the debate had much more tension and fervor in comparison to American debate. People would laugh out loud and jump up and down at points of contention. We stopped at a gift shop on the way home and purchased some decorations for our room. I got an email from the University of Edinburgh Chamber Choir saying that they could squeeze me in for an audition at 1:00. It was outside of the city. I had to run around to all the bus stops to find the right route. About a half hour later, I found the stop and took a 20 minute ride outside to the director's apartment. I auditioned with some serious competition from all over the world. The chamber choir is the small select choir on campus and I had nothing prepared for auditions. I did really well though. I sightread two pieces and the director asked if I had perfect pitch (which I really do not). I had a huge range that day too, so I sounded all the better. I was so excited when I left, that I just walked 40 minutes to another meeting about my political views with Paddy. He needed the information to place us with our MSP.

I came back and packed for Ireland. We went with our backpacks to the video that night. It was a pretty good lecture followed by the hysterical film, Whisky Galore! The town put a ban on whisky until a ship wrecked on the island with tons of it. Hilarity follows. We left for the airport and hopped on a flight to Ireland. We landed after a 45 minute flight. We walked forever to get to customs and then took a bus to our hostel. We had quite a walk from the drop off point, but it's no big deal. The hostel was ok. The six of us stayed in the same room. We all went out that night to Q1 right on O'Connell Street to hang out. The best part of the night though was our crashing of McDonalds. Fast food is really popular over here and the fast food joints and ten times nicer than the states. We all missed terrible food, so we ate at McDonalds at two in the morning. It was the best meal I've had in a while. The joys of college life. We fell asleep to Brendan telling ghost stories that night.

After a rocky start the next morning *showers were not the nicest and toast was not the most sufficient breakfast*, we all headed out. We visited Trinity college for a while, which was really nice. I couldn't imagine going to school there though. So many tours. We hopped aboard a tour for a while before leaving to go to the National Gallery. Lots of amazing artwork there. There was a painting by Gris that I would love to get a print of. Hopi and Katie met us in Ireland, so we waited for them a while. The group split in half and Scott, Brendan and I went to the Guinness factory. I had a guinness *my first pint*. I poured the thing from the tap myself and drank it all. It was pretty rich, I'm not going to lie. Guinness produces 4 million pints a day, and 2 million of them stay in Ireland. We then went to teh James Joyce Center for a bit and got dinner at a pub. I had a shank of lamb, which was awesome. We listened to a guitar duet for a while before going out to more pubs.

The next day, we got up early and left for Cork. We took a 3 hour train to Cork. The scenery was amazing. Ireland has so many shades of green. We got to Cork around 2 and found our hostel. It was really nice. Brendan and I shared a room with a girl and some guy who we never got to meet. We walked around downtown Cork before grabbing a packed bus to Blarney Castle. In about 20 minutes, we were at the castle. It was one of the best moments of my life. The weather was so great. Not a cloud in the sky. Sights like this make you appreciate life so much more. I kissed the Blarney stone on top of castle which was surreal. It was this luck that got us through the rest of the trip. We also spelunked in some tunnels under the castle. That was soooo neat. We headed back to Cork very happy. I had an amazing burger for dinner that night and then watched rugby for a while.

Sunday was interesting. We woke up and I realized we booked the wrong tickets home. I thought we were leaving Sunday, but our tickets said Monday. After intense freaking out, half of us had to stay. The other half booked their tickets correctly - or so we thought. We took the train to Dublin and bid farewell to half of our group. Geddes, Scott and I found a hostel, which turned out to be amazing. We wandered the city for a while, going to places in the Temple Bar area. I started bleeding profusely from the neck for some odd reason. I still have yet to figure that out, but it bled for a half hour. We saw so much more of Dublin that I stopped worrying about our messed up flight. At ten, we went out for some food and we stopped to watch a side show. This guy had a bike with steering that was backwards. We watched for a while until someone jumps on Geddes. We turn around and two of the members of the other group had come back. They also booked the wrong flights and randomly found us in Dublin. What are the chances. Pure elation is the only word that can describe our feelings. Cody paid 250 euro to fly out sunday night. We all decided it wasn't worth it. We went to the Porterhouse to watch this Irish band. We all went to bed happy.

We met the two other guys the next morning and went to the Dart to take the train to Howth, which is a fishing village on the coast. I bled again at the train station from my neck. That's certainly not a good sign. Maybe my beard to too rough. Who knows? Anyways, we got to Cork and the scenery was lovely. The pictures don't do it justice. We climbed for a bid and explored the area and got some fish and chips, since it's the best around. It was really tasty. We saw sea lions too. That made me happy. We came back to Dublin and messed around a bit before our flight. We were quite happy to leave, but Ireland was truly amazing. What a crazy weekend.

We ate Morgan's food as soon as we returned. Yesterday I had Scottish Politics. That was a pretty boring class. After lunch, I did some research for a presentation I had today. Geddes and I had to talk about gender issues in Scotland. After coming up with our powerpoint and dividing up our presentation, I went to the gym with Adam. We didn't do much, but what we did was killer. I will be feeling that for a long time. I checked the sheet in the music building and saw that I had made the chamber singers. I was so shocked. I get to sing in St. Giles this semester. My first rehearsal is tonight and I'm pumped. Another emotional high for sure. I've really lucked out this trip. I made potato and leek soup for dinner and worked most of the rest of the night. I talked to people online, cause I miss you guys. I got most of my Scottish Politics paper done for Friday though.

This morning I woke up early and did more research before going to class. We gave our presentation today and it went well. I made bagel pizzas for lunch for Scott and I. Quite tasty. Now I finishing this update. We have a museum tour this afternoon. I then have to do homework, make dinner and go to a three hour rehearsal tonight. I'm so stoked.

The top picture is of me kissing the Blarney Stone. The second picture is of me with my first guinness. The final picture is of me on the beaches of Howth. I love that town.

Well, until next time, you've been goobinformed.

O quarto trabalho inédito, “South Of Heaven”, de 1988, trouxe algumas mudanças no som.
Intitualdo “Diabolous In Musica”, o disco causou certa polêmica.
No mesmo ano, o Slayer lança o ‘box-set’ “Soundtrack to the Apocalypse”.

Are you ready to win money playing an online poker tournament? Advancing to the money in one of these multi-person tournaments takes some luck but the right strategy can help you to overcome the challenge of trying to win one of these tournaments.
First, start off by playing a low entry-fee tournament. One-dollar and five-dollar entry fees are the way to go if you are first beginning. Dont be intimidated by the amount of entrants in these tournaments. About 10-15% of these people are just in it to try and get lucky. Dont fall victim to their early raises or perhaps all-in bets. In the early stages of the tournament, dont try and cash in on a good hand right away. Some idiot will call your pocket aces with a seven three and beat you with two pair. Simply call and only bet if you know you cant be beat. Many players will go out early and it is critical that you just survive and pick up a few chips along the way.
This strategy will enable you to move on to the second stage of the tournament. By now, half of the players are gone and you can try to build your chip stack now. Start playing more aggressively and beware of players with bigger stacks trying to push you around. If you have a good hand, dont be afraid to play it. Now is the time to put yourself in position for the final run and get yourself in position for the money.
If you are lucky enough to make it to the end, the pressure will build drastically. By this time in the tournament, some players are weakening and just waiting for the hand to go all-in on. Stay focused mentally and think about the odds carefully before playing your hand. Try slow-playing that killer hand and trap your opponent into thinking that you have nothing. Chances are he will think you are bluffing and you can bury him.
Finally, dont get frustrated if you dont make it very far into your first few tournaments. Work on developing your skills and becoming a good tournament poker player. Stick to your strategy even if you lose a couple of good hands. Chances are, your patience will pay off in the end and you can happily accept your prize money with a feeling of great satisfaction.

Well, I guess things were going too well so something had to happen. The Lord giveth and He taketh away. He giveth me a new colostomy device on Friday at Blanchard Valley Hospital, which promptly failed during the middle of my dialysis on Monday (today). The goddamned bag had no paste to seal the wafer to my skin around the stoma (intestinal opening) so the stool coming out pushed the wafer away from the skin allowing the shit to begin oozing out. I couldnapos;t move because I was still doing dialysis. I was taken off dialysis early and the EMS 911 van was called to haul me horizontally from the dialysis chair to a gurney then across the campus to the ER room for the 16th time in 14 months. AT the ER they cleaned up the failed colostomy and put on a new one--and this one, too, had no goddamned paste to seal the wafer. What the hell is it with nurses who do not have sealing paste that is vital to making a good seal?

After getting a new wafer and colostomy bag affixed, I went to lunch with E. At the local Chinese family buffet and ate only half of my meal. I am not eating all of my meals, usually less than half. I did the same thing when I went out for a fast-food dinner at Wendyapos;s where I ate only half of my burger and only 1/3 of my root beer.

I hope the rest of the week goes OK as I have an appointment to learn how to administer insulin to myself when my blood glucose spikes after chemotherapy.

Customer Review: Very Cool Player
This is a standard purchase in our familygood for movies, photos and tons of music. The controls have held up well to two years of gym use, including water exposure, multiple drops and gymbag storage. Id buy this again if mine ever dies.
Customer Review: Consider buying refurbished.
Since there are so many fine reviews here, Ill just add my two cents worth.
For $59.99 I purchased a refurbished model of the e280 and couldnt be happier. This model beats the iPod Nano 8GB on features and the sound is about equal with perhaps a slight nod to the Nano. The unit looks exactly like a brand new one with the exception of the word embossed on the back.
Features:
SanDisk doesnt require you to use any particular music source or program, so iTunes isnt an issue.
The Sansa includes an FM receiver the Nano doesnt.
The Sansa includes Video playback the Nano doesnt.
The Sansas screen is a bit larger and the picture quality is excellent.
The Sansa includes a record feature allowing recording of the FM signal or your voice (with its own microphone).
Sansa players include a microSD slot allowing for memory expansion. An extra $25 or so gives you an extra 8GB as of this writing.
Operation between main memory and the expansion slot is seamless (without alot of menus, dialogs, etc.).
The Sansa includes a built-in equalizer with presets (Classical, Jazz, Funk, Rock, etc.) and a custom feature allowing you to build your own sound, something the Nano doesnt offer.
Dowloading music is as easy as drag-and-drop. I use Windows Media Player version 10 (with XP) and have had no problems. Make sure your files are .wma lossless or you will get a Bad Track error message. This is found in the Options menu of the Media Player.
Im told the Sansa has a greater flexibility with play lists, especially coupled with Windows. Sub-menus are easily handled as is artist information as is cover art. Ive heard (but have no first-hand experience) that managing play lists with the Nano is more involved.
The included earbuds are actually decent, although Ive upgraded to the Sennheiser PX100 headphones. I recommend the Sennheisers, but its great that a refurbished product comes with a good pair of stock earbuds.
The owners manual is short, sweet, and very clear. But if you get stuck as I did with reformatting the refurbished units memory, the toll free customer support is very good, polite, and solved the issue.
Ive purchased some accessories for the e280 such as a car/wall charging kit, a clear crystal case, a leather carrying case for the player and the phones, and an FM transmitter that allows me to play the contents of the Sansa over my car stereo.
I also purchased a 2-year warranty for about $11. Refurbs come with a 90-day warranty, so 2-years plus 90 days is a bargain. The new units come with a 1-year warranty.
All in all, Ive got a great digital audio player with accessories for only a bit more than the cost of a new e280.
Highly recommended.

The Tuesday Review: Black Jack Contortion 1

Welcome to the inaugural installment of the Tuesday Review. My new review column will feature a work that will be in stores the next day (Wednesday, new comics day) or a work that has been out for a few weeks and should already be in stores everywhere. Of course, owing to my somewhat esoteric tastes not every store is going to have every book I recommend, but maybe thatll convince you, my readers, to badger your store into carrying good, challenging, and interesting material thats just a bit off of the beaten path? Its worth a shot anyway With that, heres a book that arrived in comic book stores everywhere about a month back. Enjoy!
Disappearance Diary
By Hideo Azuma
$22.99, 200 pages, Paperback
ISBN: 978-84-96427-42-6
Diamond: JUN083951H
Published by Fanfare/Ponent-Mon
I think its worth noting, first off, that this is a comedy about a man who chooses to be homeless, suffers numerous breakdowns, and then spirals into alcoholism. A comedy. I think its important to take all of that into consideration when deciding whether or not this is the book for you.
Me, as soon as I heard about it I couldnt wait to pick it up!
Disappearance Diary is a rare thing in English language mangadirect insight into the collective mind of the Japanese Manga Industry by an accomplished creator who worked within it for decades. Author Hideo Azuma created numerous manga serials for various magazines over the course of his career, more than a dozen are named in the book itself, and is credited with the creation of the genre of manga (cute, sexy young girls in sexual situations) that would later give way to the concept of (moh-ay) or superlative cuteness. Basically, this guy has serious manga chops. The thing is, it nearly killed him to acquire them.
The table of contents for Disappearance Diary breaks the graphic novel down into four components: Walking At Night, covering Azumas first escape into homelessness, Walking Around Town, in which Azuma again escapes the glamourous world of manga creation to work anonymously for the gas company, Alcoholic Ward, which details Azumas battle with alcoholism, and End of Book Discussion Hideo Azuma Tori Miki, which is an interview between Azuma and manga-ka Tori Miki, a contemporary of Azumas who has had one great book published in English by Fantagraphics: Anywhere But Here. But to my mind the two most important sections of the book arent listed on that table of contents: one is tacked onto the end of the second section, and the other is literally hidden from sightand they are quite simply the strongest sections of the manga.
But lets back up a little bit. The quote on the back cover of Disappearance Diary is pulled from the second panel of the book, and it reads This manga has a positive outlook on life, and so it has been made with as much realism removed as possible. Its a little unsettling to pick up an ostensibly non-fiction, autobiographical book and see that on the back cover, and as the first sentence. I was a little surprised myself, and I imagine that it might put off those without a sense of humour about this sort of thing (anyone who tried to return a copy of James Freys Million Little Pieces, for example). But when the authors first suicide attempt arrives 2 pages later and its hilarious rather than tragic, you begin to understandand be grateful forhis light-hearted approach to personal tragedy. Its impossible to tell how much of the thought and action attributed by Azuma to his adorable cartoon stand-in is strictly true, strictly accurate, but almost regardless its certainly convincing. By the second or third short story I was rooting for Azumato find some food in the wilderness, to figure out how to keep the rain off of him, and avoid being discovered by the authorities. Its a hell of a thing to root for a guy that has abandoned his life, his wife, and his infant son, but such trivial and earthly concerns nearly-evaporate when Azuma figures out how to build a fire Its all a bit like if Tom Hanks character crashed the plane himself in but youre still excited when he cooks the crab! The Azuma stand-in is incredibly self-effacing, humble, and especially adorable. He is designed to be loved, a personification of the lolicon/moe/kawaii ethos that Azuma the author contributed to developing within the manga industry. Azuma needs your good will and your empathy though, because thats what makes his spiral into truly self-destructive behaviour so affecting, and enraging. By the time he gets around to explaining just why exactly his life was so tough, you cant help but feel for the poor cartoon guy, and that wouldnt have happened (I feel) with a more realistic depiction of Azuma, or his actions.
So at the end of the second section, Walking Around Town, it looks like Azuma simply ran out of stories to tell about his second foray into homelessness and obscurity, and so to fill out his serialization he decides to tack on three short pieces that chronicle his entire career in manga up until he checks into rehab, the last major event in his life before he begins creating this book. This might be the most important, and difficult to read, section in the manga, as it describes in painful (though surprisingly light-hearted) detail just how intense the creation of our favourite manga can be. Its one thing to be told Working in the manga industry is tough! Its another altogether to work alongside our beloved and cherubic narrator and see him slide cheerfully into oblivion. Rereading Disappearance Diary for this review, I couldnt help but compare Azumas horror stories of working in the manga industry to the recently unearthed documents surrounding Siegel Shusters dealings with National Periodicals during the early days of Superman. Is there something endemic of comics that creates creators that drive themselves to ruin and editors there to backseat drive the whole way? Azuma puts forward a solid argument for.
Another key piece of these stories, presented as almost an afterthought in the book, is that were introduced to them via a conversation between Azuma and the editor of the book were reading, probably in serialization. Azuma never lets you forget that youre reading a manga about his problems with manga, making you complicit in the acts that cause his downward spiral. Of course he never accuses the reader directly, and takes great pains to filter these experiences through a very deliberate prism separating the heartbreak out and leaving only sunshine and humour behind. He lays out all of the clues for you and lets you make your own mind. Actually, he does that in his portreyal of his editors at the time as well. By all accounts, these men drove him not only to drink but to the drink of death, but he treats all of them with the lightest possible touch. They come off as heartless, uncaring, maybe even a little evil at points, but Azuma simply presents things as they were (to his recollection) and again, lets the readers fill in the gaps. Why? Well, I think its telling that his harshest criticisms of his editors are, effectively, They stopped giving me work! Despite all of the hardships and heartache, you get the feeling that he wasnt entirely ready to burn his bridges with these folks, just in case he might get an assignment or two out of them again!
The third section of the book chronicles Azumas fall into alcoholism, and his slow recovery in a rehab clinic, and thats by turns funny and horrifying and as enjoyable as the rest of the book. Seriously, by this point in the book I was completely in love with it, all of its promises fulfilled. Well almost all of them. The book ends with Azuma clearly on the road to recovery, managing his alcoholism but still clearly in rehab. I mean, weve already seen him post rehab at the end of the second section of the book, we see that he comes out of it, but the book is left on a cliffhanger, with Azuma promising to tell the rest of his story next time. That leaves us with the end-of-book interview to fill in the gap, to offer clarity and context to the graphic novel. But of course, that wouldnt be in keeping with a positive outlook on life, with as much realism removed as possible, now would it? Which isnt to say that the interview with Tori Miki is devoid of content or closure Its just not what we want after spending many years and 200 pages with Azuma. We want the last word on him, or a breathrough, or something, and in the end what we get is his life, as honestly as he could bare to tell it (and full of as many jokes as he could cram in). And he answers one of my early questions tooAzuma says that not everything that happened made it into the book, but everything thats in the book actually happened.
The real clarity comes in an interview that is hidden from the reader Ill let you discover it for yourself but I will reveal that this hidden interview is where Azuma offers the first real bit of insight into his actions, what it means to leave your life behind. It isnt pretty, but it lasts for only a moment or two before disolving into a conversation about which popular Japanese idols are prettiest. Azuma is certainly committed to his manga ideology, Ill give him that.
I guess Ill finish off by saying that, in todays graphic novel market memoir and autobiography are the genres that have found the most traction amongst real mainstream readers at least the ones not buying movie tie-ins. In a just world, this one would find a great deal of success But I have a feeling that Disappearance Diary has traded in too much of what mainstream audiences want from their memoir for a gentle, knowing humour and a refusal to find a conclusion in an ongoing life. Disappearance Diary is a book that can find the comedy in tradgedy, and as weve already established thats the book for me!
A copy of this book was provided for review by the publisher. But lets be honest, I woulda bought in anyway.

Have a Ball
Try reading this web page without scrolling. Every day you navigate through files, email and web pages by scrolling horizontally and vertically. Now you can do it all with your fingertip. Mighty Mouse’s Scroll Ball features miniature sensors that allow you to manipulate what appears on your screen merely by moving your finger. Scroll up and down to read a long web page or document. Scroll back and forth to follow a timeline in iMovie or keep track of a large spreadsheet in Excel. But getting from point A to point B doesn’t always mean traveling in a straight line. Take a spin on the mouse that’s not afraid of kitty-corner. With Mighty Mouse’s Scroll Ball, you can scroll at a 45-degree angle — even roll in 360-degree sweeps. Pan across a massive digital image in iPhoto or Adobe Photoshop. Take in a whole PDF in Preview. The Scroll Ball moves the content on your screen just as your eyes might move across a printed page. The Scroll Ball acts as an extra mouse button too, offering you one of a few clever clicking options. All-Terrain Mouse
The wireless Mighty Mouse finds its way courtesy of a laser tracking system that boasts 20 times more sensitivity to surface detail than traditional optical tracking engines. So you can glide the wireless Mighty Mouse over more surfaces--metal, wood, plastic, even your denim (or tweed) clad leg. It Squeezes, Not Squeaks
It wouldn’t be fair to call Mighty Mouse a two-button mouse with one button. Especially when it responds to pressure from your fingers in four different places. Besides the left- and right-click functions, the Scroll Ball clicks down to act as a third mouse button. And force-sensing buttons on either side of Mighty Mouse respond when you press in with your finger and thumb. Perfect for Mac OS X users, the side buttons are pre-programmed to activate Exposé, so you can view all your windows with a squeeze. Of course, you can also customize Mighty Mouse to open whatever you choose--Spotlight, Dashboard or any application when you have Mac OS X v10.4.6 or later. The Button That Wasn’t
Alas the fate of the one-button mouse in today’s multibutton world. Who has time for intuitive, elegant design when there is so much clicking to do? Thanks to a smooth top shell with touch-sensitive technology beneath, Mighty Mouse allows you to right click without a right button. Capacitive sensors under Mighty Mouse’s seamless top shell detect where your fingers are and predict your clicking intentions, so you don’t need two buttons — just two fingers. Click on the left side to use Mighty Mouse in its simplest, single-button form. Click on the right to access contextual menus within applications and edit, copy, label or download from your mouse. It’s simple sleight of hand.
