I think of how often we wish we had done things differently and we know people we care about wish the same thing for us. When other people handle things better than us, or think of smarter ideas or catch on faster. When other kids are the ones who make contact with the ball and even kick it--in the right direction.

So instead of asking him why or correcting him, I just went along. I told him that he has a great team and that I think they are lucky to have him as a player. I wanted him to know that I knew how he felt, that I too had been there before, so I joined him in his soccer fantasy.

It was a good day, we made lots of great shots, and we almost won.

When I've seen her in social settings, I just completely ignore her.

Anyway, here's what I think I was thinking when I got involved with her in the first place:

After Cari (obstensibly, the girl I should have married in 2004), I had serious doubts as to whether I was even capable of loving someone. Cari loved me; I was terribly fond of/attracted to/infatuated with Cari. Love has to do with the one giving it, not receiving it. Cari loved me because she was a loving person, not because I was lovable. Anyway, I really doubted that I was even capable of loving someone, and that was the greatest grief of them all. When Laura came around, I think I wanted to prove to myself so badly that I could love somebody, that it blinded me to the fact that I shouldn't have been involved with Laura. I was determined to love Laura regardless of anything, so I did. I think I would have stopped short of marrying her, b/c even then I knew there were too many obstacles, but I certainly gave her everything I could, and got very little in return. I think God had finally had enough; I proved that His love does flow through me and can be poured out from me, and I needed to get away from her. God had prepared too much for me to do to be fooling around with a girl who really isn't that interested in anything other than her own comfort.

So now I'm a year older, and with a vision that I laugh at when I consider Laura's theoretical reaction to it: live one step above destitution in order that I might minister to high school kids. I can imagine her squirming just thinking about it. She's so not fit for me that it's ridiculously, plainly obvious. I'm excited to be doing what I am, and I fully acknowledge that being single is the only way I could do it. Maybe the LORD will give me a wife and my ministry focus will have to adjust accordingly. Maybe He won't, and that's fine; I'll pine and long, but it will be okay. I'd much rather be single than unequally yoked. One year later, I'm okay. I'm thankful, I'm satisfied. I still pine and long and yearn, but not for her anymore.

You know what time it is.
The first of the Big Four clashes takes place this weekend as Manchester United travels the short distance to Anfield to take on Liverpool in this weekend's juiciest match-up.
As you know, the Big Four is turning into a Big Five with Manchester City drowning in cash. Well, City gets its first test in the Big Five by taking on Chelsea in what will be Robinho's debut. 1. Manchester United at Liverpool. Dimitar Berbatov makes his debut while Liverpool welcomes Riera
2. Chelsea at Manchester City. Talk about a can't-miss affair. Robinho makes his debut against the team he spurned.
3. Schalke 04 at Borussia Dortmund. Battle of top German clubs will be the first chance for many Americans to see Neven Subotic in action.
4. Udinese at Juventus. Best match of the Serie A schedule should be a wide-open affair.

What are the biggest challenges in developing a new fantasy game?
Boy, thats a question I could write a dissertation on after having just completed our first year. First, if youre a small start-up like us, youre going to have different set of challenges than the established players. But regardless of who you are, one of the biggest challenges is creating a game that is innovative, appealing (better yet, addicting), and eventually profitable.
It all begins with the Field Of Dreams challenge. If you build it (very well), how do you know they will come? Customer acquisition is a huge challenge even though the Internet provides more affordable ways than ever to reach your target audience. If youre a premium game like us, not only do you have to convince your customer that theyll thoroughly enjoy your game, but its also worth spending their hard earned money on.
If youre giving away cash prizes like we do, this creates another great challenge. As everyone in the industry knows, the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 (UIGEA) requires all prizes to be guaranteed, fixed, and announced upfront. So how you determine the demand for your game prior to launching it in order to know how much prize money you can give away without breaking the bank? (especially in the first year). As you know, some of the new high stakes fantasy football games are currently dealing with this exact challenge.
If you game requires a lot of statistical data, how do you acquire that.

Virginia Tech suspended receiver Zach Luckett indefinitely Monday for a violation of team policy. He was then kicked off the team for this season on Tuesday.

Coach Frank Beamer had no further comment regarding the 6-foot-3, 212-pound redshirt sophomore. With Royal, Clowney and Morgan all leaving for the NFL Luckett was supposed to step in and be the speedster and one of the go-to-guys this season. He was looking to be a for sure starter this season.

Luckett played all 14 games last season. He caught two passes for 15 yards made 15 tackles on special teams. The Hokies are ranked 17th in The Associated Press preseason poll.The AP or VaTech did not announce officially the reason for Luckett's suspension. However being from Blacksburg, VA and knowing people on the team and managers who film the practices, I got the inside word. Apparently Luckett backed into the dumpster at the 7-11 in down town Blacksburg. This was during the night and the cops were in full force in downtown Bburg. The commotion caused from that forced Blacksburg's finest to act. Lucket was charged with reckless driving and a DUI, so I heard. Those offenses and charges warranted him to be kicked off the team this season.

Anyone who has lived in Blacksburg and been to that 7-11 knows that the dumpsters are in a horrible spot and even a sober person could hit them, however, you have to pay for your actions no matter how stupid they are. He was driving his car after having alcohol that night and must have known the consequences before he set out to seven-eleven.

The one thing that bothers me is that he is being punished before he is found guilty. In America you are innocent until proven guilty. There is no way that Luckett could have gone to trial and been found guilty yet, so why punish him if he could get off (especially if this is his first offense)? In the NFL and other professional sports the league administrators do not punish athletes until they are proven guilty of the charges they are accused of, why not do the same with NCAA athletes.
